Google China terminates contracts with seven ad resellers

Google China terminates contracts with seven ad resellers
According to Reuters, spokeswoman for Google Cindy Qin said an internal statement was sent to the advertising partners on 27 September, giving them one month’s notice.
According to a figure provided by Credit Suisse, the seven Google AdWords distributors contributed US$226 million in gross revenue for Google last year, which sums up to 40 per cent of the company's annual revenue.

Aliza Knox, head of online sales and operations for Google Asia-Pacific, was subsequently reported to have received a letter accusing Google staff of plotting against the resellers. Knox declined to comment.
According to Eeo.com.cn, a general manager at one of the seven terminated agencies, stated that a department head at Google China holds a 55 per cent stake in one of the Beijing-based ad agencies. He has reportedly already obtained up to three million yuan (US$ 450,000) from his involvement in the business.
Ad agencies involved include Hangzhou eCentral, Go To Network Advertising, Wenzhou Zhongzi Futou Technology, Yangzhou Dingjie Technology, Ningbo 5ENET Technology and Xiamen Yizi Network Services.
