If you want to have MASSIVE media reach in Japan, team up with the biggest boy on the block - DENTSU. It's been announced that Dentsu and Facebook have come to an agreement for Dentsu to have exclusive sales rights to premium advertising space on Facebook until mid-February next year. Sales of advertising space on the Facebook platform will be handled by cyber communications, a subsidiary of Dentsu, as media representative.
Teaming with Dentsu is an obvious move, but being able to make an agreement with them must have made for some interesting, prolonged discussions. Expect to see a massive explosion of FACEBOOK in Japan this year in Japan. Taking away from Japan local SNS sites may not be so hard, as the Japanese youth are quite fickle in nature and like to try something fresh and new. Let's see if facebook can keep them interested!
